CAT (C), PERSONAL TRAINER
I am someone that gives 110% to everything in my life. Whether it is my job, my sports teams, or even my high school jazz band, you will always see me trying to excel.
Sports have played a big role in my life. My dad was my soccer coach and taught me to love the sport…it also helped that I was very good. Through my competitive soccer career, I experienced only minor sprains but also observed a lot of my teammates get seriously injured. The rehabilitation process fascinated me. What is the difference between a strain and a sprain? Why can’t someone play with a head injury? What causes swelling? I wanted to know! This led me to pursue my Bachelor of Science, specializing in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa.
I first heard of Athletic Therapy when I was at the University of Ottawa. I was fortunate to be chosen for a student therapist position with the Women’s basketball team. I found joy helping these athletes with injury prevention, management and rehabilitation. After this experience I knew I wanted to be a Certified Athletic Therapist. I followed my dream and went to Sheridan College to get my Athletic Therapy Certification.
While at Sheridan, I was able to work with so many demographics: high school students, University Athletes, Industrial workers, and your average desk worker. I even had the opportunity to do virtual sessions during COVID. I balanced my schoolwork with being part of the Varsity Women’s soccer team and being a part-time multi-sport coach. Being the try-hard that I am, if I wasn’t busy, I wasn’t doing enough!
My philosophy is simple: Get your body to move the way it was intended to. How do you do this? Through joint awareness, mobility, and stability. These things are all trainable through fitness and therapy. I am continuously pursuing new courses and techniques to use in my therapy treatments and will put 110% into every client that books with me.
