Bob Yang
B.SC.(KIN.), PERSONAL TRAINER
My journey into fitness began in middle school with my history teacher, Mr. Launder, who also served as the school’s wrestling coach. As a high-energy student often getting into trouble, Mr. Launder helped me channel that energy into something productive by encouraging me to join the wrestling team. That decision sparked a lifelong passion for competitive sports.
From wrestling, I transitioned to rugby in my early years, and more recently, I’ve embraced spikeball and jiu-jitsu—particularly during the COVID era. Through these experiences, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for physical activity as a form of self-expression and a powerful tool for overall well-being.
This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies at York University, where I had the chance to learn from a diverse range of professionals and participate in various opportunities that shaped my understanding of health and fitness.
Driven by a desire to deepen my knowledge, I went on to earn a certification in Exercise Physiology at York University. This opened the door to unique hands-on experiences, including working with Ontario’s Fire, Police, and Industrial Services. Through these roles, I administered physical evaluations and gained valuable insight into the real-world applications of fitness in high-performance and demanding environments.
Today, as a dedicated personal trainer at Sandbox, my mission is to help individuals harness the transformative power of movement. Movement has always played a central role in my life—serving as a vital outlet, especially during times when words fell short. I firmly believe that regular physical activity is key to a healthy and resilient lifestyle. My goal is to inspire and support others in integrating movement into their daily lives, enhancing both physical and mental well-being.
